CTwater is a proprietary material which has the same X-ray attenuation characteristics as real water in the range of 80 to 140 kV.

It is an extremely stable, homogenous and uniform solid material and forms the basis of such phantoms as the European Spine Phantom (ESP) or the Dual Energy Phantom. Apart from this, CTwater is a well-established and widely used material for CT calibration purposes.
