Photon Counting CT

The phantom is designed to test different types of CT systems with dual-energy, multi-energy or photon counting setups.  Image acquisition and image processing at multiple energy levels is improving visualization for computed tomography. 

Iodine / CaHA Levels

The phantom is equipped with a set of 26 inserts including rods enriched with several contrast media (water+iodine, adipose+iodine) as well as calcium (water+calcium hydroxyapatite), each material with different concentrations.

AutoQA Plus Software

Automated analysis software for QA of different spectral CT technologies. Once you've positioned the phantom in the isocentre and scanned it using suitable protocols, image quality parameters are automatically evaluated.

Multi-Energy QA Phantom

The phantom represents the dimensions of a normal adult and consists of a water-equivalent oval body part and a cylindrical head insert.

There are nine positions for test inserts in the body section enriched with several contrast media (water+iodine, adipose+iodine) as well as calcium (water+calcium hydroxyapatite), each material with different concentrations. Additionally, water- and soft tissue-equivalent inserts (adipose, liver, brain - ICRU Report 44 and 46) are included.

The phantom consists of a removable/stand-alone cylindrical head phantom (Ø 160 mm) with 10 holes (Ø 25 mm) to house different inserts. It is made of water-equivalent material (CTwater)

Multi-Energy QA Phantom

A set with a total of 26 inserts is provided for the measurements. The set consists of three water-equivalent inserts and one ICRU Adipose, liver and brain insert each.

For spectral measurements, six inserts with iodine concentrations from 0.5 to 15 mg/ml (water-equivalent base material), six inserts with iodine concentrations from 0.5 to 15 mg/ml (adipose-equivalent base material), five inserts with CaHA (calcium-hydroxyapatite) concentrations from 25 to 400 mg/ml (water-equivalent base material), two inserts with iron with 5 and 10 mg/ml (liver-equivalent base material), and a fillable insert for distilled water or other liquids are available.

Mass density, concentration and electron density are provided for all materials.

Additionally, inserts with other contrast media (e.g. gadolinium), various ICRU Tissues, metals and additional water-equivalent inserts can be ordered optionally.

AutoQA Plus

AutoQA Plus is an automated image quality software designed to provide repeatability and accuracy by reducing operator error during image quality tests of various spectral CT technologies from different manufacturers performed with the QRM Multi-Energy QA Phantom.

After positioning the QRM Multi-Energy QA phantom in the isocenter using the internal alignment lasers at the zero position of the gantry, it is scanned using multi-energy, dual-energy, or photon-counting CT protocols. Image quality parameters are automatically evaluated by AutoQA Plus.

Position the phantom accurately at the isocenter by using the internal alignment lasers.

Measure the phantom with standard scan protocols and evaluate different post-processing techniques and algorithms regarding the correct material separation, concentration etc.

If necessary, repeat the measurement with varied positions of the test rods.

AutoQA Plus Software (*)

• The software detects the inserts with different concentrations and materials and places of the VOI (Volume of Interest)
• The mean VOI (Volume of Interest) and the measured SD (Standard Deviation) of the CT numbers are measured and displayed on the “Trend Report Links”
• Maps of the iodine concentration between the measured value and the nominal value of the insert (calibrated insert) are generated.
