HIP Calibration Phantom, V2

For the assessment of bone mineral density (BMD) of the hip region in quantitative CT (qCT)

  • Evaluate BMD in quantitative Computed Tomography (qCT) of the hip/femur
  • Two different cylindrical inserts with different bone mineral densities
  • Optional: customizable inserts

The Hip Calibration Phantom consists of a water-equivalent body phantom, and two replaceable inserts based on CTwater enriched with calcium hydroxyapatite (HA) containing 800 mg HA/cm³ (cortical bone) and 100 /200 mg HA/cm³ (spongious bone).

The Phantom comprises a soft tissue-equivalent body and two interchangeable cylindrical inserts simulating different bone densities. The base material of the inserts is CTwater (water-equivalent material) enriched with calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA). The inserts consist spongious/trabecular bone (with 100 and 200 mg CaHA/cm³) surrounded by a cortical wall (800 mg CaHA/cm³).

Different inserts with various BMD concentrations and metal implants are available upon request.
